i just upgraded 2 of my blogs, this ones and my freelance blog, alone on the web, to wordpress 2.71.

alone on the web upgraded just fine, but the life of buford at first was a real failure.

for the first hour after upgrading i could not login to the admin panel of wordpress at all. all i saw was a white page with the message "error 500 - internal server error" and "try again later".

well, i thought it was the end of that blog for sure. i posted on twitter asking for help and all.

the strange thing was that i tried this at least 5 times and no luck. the other strange thing is that i was able to post to the blog using iblogger on the iphone just fine and the post showed up on the blog.

so an hour later i tried again and it logged me right in and it looks fine. odd behavior at best. i hope everything is fine.

the new interface looks very nice. i will have to play around with it and do some more testing.

anybody else have this off "error 500" business?

ruthie and i are in wylie, tx watching jon's last wrestling match of the season.

he lost his first bout, which was before we got here, but we just saw him pin his last opponent with 5 seconds to go!

he was really in attack mode against a kid that was chunkier than he was.

update: he won another bout as well and now gets to compete again.

this post is a shortie. an image of amber poplion all dressed up for halloween form when she did her trick-or-treating at cedar hill's new government center. she is home and recovering quite well.

on monday ruthie, my brother-in-law jack antebi and ruthie's co-worker, regaynel poplion came down to college station, texas for a continuing education session that was being put on at a & m university. the texas transportation institute is hosting the sessions and jack works for them.

i got to come along because "have apple powerbook and wifi - will travel" applies in my business as a freelance web designer.

i just set up my little portable office in the motel and plug away at my work.

we got 2 bonuses on this trip.

1 - we got to have dinner twice with our son david, who attends a & m. his girlfriend amy even got away from her studies to meet us for one dinner.

2 - regaynel poplion happens to be amber poplion's mom. the fact that she was able to come with us means that amber is doing great and regaynel can get away for a few days for work. i think she is due to finally leave the rehab facility and go home very soon. she did get to go home for a few hours last week and today is supposed to go the texas state fair!

just a quickie post to put this photo up from our august, 2008 cruise on the carnival ecstasy that our family of 5 took. it was one of about 3 photos that all 5 of us were actually in.

this was from one of the formal nights and as you can see, we decided that formal was not going to be suits and ties on this cruise. casual was in for the buford clan!
