chicago from the water

June 21st, 2007

got to chicago early today and went to the navy pier on lake michigan. neat place, but the signage is horrible. come to think of it, most of the signage we have seen in chicago has been really bad.

we spent a good part of the morning on a wild goose chase just trying to get back to the entrance to the dang navy pier after we missed it the first time.

we got on a boat for a 45 minute lake michigan tour and it was really nice. only 13 bucks a person and you got to see all along the shore of the whole city with a great narrative too.

we spent some nice quality time with our cousin craig and went out for a nice italian dinner. all in all, a good start to this trip!

oy, new compressor

June 16th, 2007

well, as luck would have it our ac compressor just died, only months before we sell the house!

a piddly $1500 later and today we will have ac once again downstairs. a gift to the new owner.

things are finally seeming to move on the new house. we hired a plumber and he is working on fixing all the stuff the other idiot messed up (a ton of stuff), plus finishing the plumbing work in the house.

we are getting estimates for things like tile installation, electrical work and even a kitchen remodel (that will wait till the other house sells).

fun stuff, but all this really chews up time in big chunks. we are texturing and painting at the new house also, so that the back area can get ready to have the carpet installed.

hopefully i can post some more images soon.

big ole 24″ iMac looks great on the desk

June 9th, 2007

new imacjust got this new baby on wed. and it sure does look sweet on my desk. it was a present from my boss for doing a good job and so i could be more productive from home. thanks boss!!!!!! i just love this new 24" iMac computer. it will look even better when we get it to the new house and put it on my new glass desk from eurway (a scandanavian modern furniture store). it makes my 15" powerbook g4 look tiny.

color at the new house

June 4th, 2007

wow, we made some progress at the new house this weekend. ruthie, myself, david and jon all went over there and got most of the hallway painted, plus the office is about 3/4 done as well.

we had to fire the contractor for shoddy work and shoddy work ethics, but are glad we don't have to deal with him anymore and can just move on with our project. pictures to come soon...
