we just got to san antonio tonight after a long day. we are staying right behind the alamo in a high rise mariott residence inn that is actually right next to a very old synagogue that has been turned into a night club and there was a line of about 100 people outside waiting to get into the club when we walked by.

kinda strange to see this re-use of such an old jewish structure. the star of david was still above the door (it's actually part of the building).

it was a nice ride down and we got here, walked to the river and had dinner on the river walk. here's a shot i took of ruthie on the way back to the hotel.

this was jon's first game in his high school football career. his team won 20 to zippo (0)!!!

we think he has a great future in this sport. this was the first school football he has played.

he was wearing number 73. rooty and i got there late and they had racked up 14 points before we arrived. it was fun being in the stands with the other fans.

i was very happy with my image stabilizer lens and its' ability to get these shots from the stands at dusk.

yup, this past weekend was my nephew dillon's bar mitzvah. he did a great job and really sounded great. this photo was from the thursday 6:45am service, which is the actual bar mitzvah itself. the rest of the weekend is really for the assembled crowd and the parties and food orgies.

we had a whole bunch of relatives and friends come in from all over the usa. this is called a simcha in our religion and this is pretty standard in this family.

it was a great weekend. i took lots of photos and may even get them up on the rooty jr. site soon.

we are almost done with the renovations on the kitchen and the breakfast nook at our new house on glen cove in richardson. the cabinets have been ordered and should be in soon, possibly this coming weekend.

we decided to tear out most everything and start from scratch. those ugly corner cabinets in the breakfast nook just had to go!
