just a quickie post to put this photo up from our august, 2008 cruise on the carnival ecstasy that our family of 5 took. it was one of about 3 photos that all 5 of us were actually in.

this was from one of the formal nights and as you can see, we decided that formal was not going to be suits and ties on this cruise. casual was in for the buford clan!

last night ruthie and i went to children's medical center to see amber poplion and this time i did indeed bring my camera along.

she is doing much better, as you can see, and even walked down to the hospital entrance and outside to say goodbye to us last night. we got nice hugs too.

the doctors have told her parents they will probably send amber (and mom) to a rehab facility on monday or tuesday because she is doing so well on her recovery.

this was a great family shot from the mr. sancho's beach on the island of cozumel, mexico from our recent august cruise.

this is the same beach that ruthie and i had visited the day after we got engaged, so it had special meaning to us.

i have a video of jon buried in the sand where it took him a really long time to pull himself out that i will try and post soon.

on september 3rd, 2008 i started up a new blog to have an online discussion about my journey doing freelance web design, affiliate marketing, eBay and the tech i come across along the way.

so, if you wondered where all the tech articles on this blog went to now you know.

it was getting to the point where i was writing about too many diverse subjects on the life of buford. the focus shifted away from it being a family and life blog to one where i was talking about wordpress, mac, ebay and all sorts of tech stuff and it made no sense.

so please come check out the new blog, aloneontheweb.com and follow along as i begin my freelance career and chronicle all the fun experiences and tech i come along in the process.

i'm happy to report that the little girl, amber poplion, is having a very quick and excellent recovery.

the case has been diagnosed as encephalitis, a brain inflamation, which usually has a very slow recovery process, but amber is beating the odds on this one.

i visited amber a few days ago and she was wide awake trying to dance to music from her church that was playing on the cd player.

at the time, she was still being held by her mom and could not really talk yet, but ruthie has told me that on her last visit amber was walking by herself and talking some.

i'll bring my camera tonight when we go visit and give another progress report soon with a new pic. a spunky 8 year old.
